Synopsis

The Country Direct Seasons on BBC World News go behind the headlines to explore everyday life in one country. The season explores a range of issues and topics, from the economy and the challenges facing the local workforce, to standards of living for people at every level of society, as well as exploring different facets of the country through the eyes of local film-makers and BBC correspondents.

Japan is in the spotlight this March, as BBC World News broadcasts a special series of documentaries and news programmes. One year on from the earthquake and Tsunami, BBC World News returns to Japan to find out how the country is recovering from the disasters and their impact on different facets of life from the economy to the infrastructure.
